the lighter side of Phnom Penh

Ok, I know my first post about Cambodia was depressing (but I hope you think well worth reading), but the rest won't be, I promise! While in Phnom Penh, we also were able to enjoy the lighter side of the city. We got a really cool tuk-tuk driver who drove us all over the city (hiring a tuk-tuk-driver for the day costs much less than a single 20 minute cab ride in the US - crazy). Since I've had some rather wordy posts lately, I'll keep this one nice and short - I'll let the pictures/captions do the talking. Enjoy!

random statue that I thought was cool. I guess it's safe to say that I have a soft spot for elephants

care for a whole chicken? This is totally normal here, but not something I'm used to seeing at the grocery stores back in the US

hmmmm, I know that being close to the waterfront is supposed to be a selling point, but I think this is a bit extreme. . .

like the NRA? Then you'll LOVE Cambodia. You can blow up an old car with a bazooka if you've got the cash. . .

monkeys!

cool giant clock at the "monkey temple" (see previous photo for why I gave it this nickname)

Phnom Penh's National Museum had some incredible examples of Khmer sculpture, but I have to admit that one of my favorite activities was feeding the fish in the courtyard

Angkor Wat in miniature - can't wait to check out the real thing in Siem Reap

artsy shot playing with perspective taken at the royal palace. If possible, I would also show a picture of the world's most valuable Buddha statue (90kg of gold, and 2000+ diamonds), which was also at the royal palace, but no photography was allowed. . .

We crashed a fancy hotel to use their pool (well, actually we paid, so it was legit). Great way to beat the heat!

nothing particularly special about this statue, but I thought it looked cool, so here it is
