Felicidades, Rogelio y Raquel!!

(congratulations, Rogelio and Raquel)

Contrary to popular belief, I did not decide to go to Mexico City solely to stress out my mom (don't worry mom - I'm still swine-flu free!) - my coworker Rogelio was getting married, and I joined a small band of former and curent Appianites in Mexico city to attend the wedding.

Fun fact: in Mexico they really know how to throw a wedding! The ceremony was in Spanish, so I had a hard time following completely, but I'm pretty sure that somewhere in there was "I now pronounce you man and wife."

After the ceremony, it was party time! The party started at 10pm, and went to 5am! After a delicious meal (and a drink or two) we hit the dance floor. Certain songs came with props (cowboy hats, sombreros, wrestling masks, etc), and towards the end of the night there was a Mariaci band. The bride and groom even had a surprise - they'd choreographed their own dance which they performed for us - very well done!

Despite my best efforts (and enough red bull and coca cola to float a warship), I started to crash around 4am. The groom saw we were having trouble staying up and had the van come pick us up early. And then he went back to partying - and when we saw him the next day (7 hours later) for brunch he was more energized than any of the rest of us.

The wedding was incredibly fun. Well done, Rogelio and Raquel - enjoy your honeymoon!

Iana and I enjoying the cowboy theme. Other dance themes included sombrero, wrestler(with masks!), and rave (glowsticks and black lights)

everyone knows it's not really a party unless there are clowns on stilts!

at about 4am the red bull and 7 or so cokes I'd drank failed me. Luckily, I was able to hide under my cowboy hat and take a nap - noone suspected a thing!
