But don't you worry - we here at AEA have been burning the midnight oil to figure out how to make sure that updates to the blog can continue, even in China. While there are a variety of options involving VPNs etc, I believe I've hit on an even easier option: publishing by email!
Long story short, I should be able to create my blog posts in gmail, then mail them to the blog where they'll be published. At least, that's the theory. This is the official test post.
We've already tested links, now lets test italics, and bold.
And now for the big test - pictures!! I'm kind of doubting I'll get the same level of control over formatting as I did when I hand-edited the blog HTML (yes, I'm already aware that I'm a big nerd). But here goes:
This is my first picture (medium size), with accompanying caption. Oh, and this is a picture of my banana and bacon french toast I had in Hanoi. It was delicious.
This is the second picture with another caption. (It's a ruin on a little island in the middle of a lake in Hanoi). I am going to make this caption longer to see how things look when I type a few sentences. I need one more sentence to fill out this paragraph, so here it is.
update: unfortunately, it looks like operation "post blog in china" was a bust - the text posted just fine, but the pictures didn't make it through. And that's kind of important. With just text it's boring! back to the old drawing board. . .
